Three Crucial Elements for Collaborative Innovation

Henrik Stamm Kristensen

After writing over 50 books, some of them with such powerful ideas like in Raving Fans! Revolutionary Approach to Customer Service, Ken Blanchard is  not only able to talk about management, but also about collaboration. I found the following talk truly interesting since collaboration is an increasingly necessary tool for growing businesses and for innovating in a scenario of constant disruption as well.

Starting with the sentence, “No one of us is as smart as all of us”, Ken Blanchard highlights three key elements for establishing good collaborative relations that allow for the overcoming of important challenges and also for innovating.

Vision alignment. The best collaboration arises between those who share a vision and want to achieve the same goal.

Learn from others. Relying on the different skills and experience of diverse people allows moving forward faster and more successfully, which is also one of the core ideas behind open innovation.

Essence and form are two parts of collaboration. Essence refers to values while form refers on how you want to achieve something, explains Ken Blanchard who stresses that essence needs to come first.

I really recommend you have a look at the talk, which aside from being interesting and filled of personal anecdotes, is carried out in an entertaining way.
